Muriel Brandolini
New York-based, worldly interior designer Muriel Brandolini is not one to obsess about perfection. Influenced by her Vietnamese, Venezuelan and French heritage, and informed by her travels, Muriel’s cosmopolitan, Haute-bohemian aesthetic – a mix of exoticism, sophistication, and fantasy underpinned by her signature mix of pattern and colour – is the product of intuition more than calculation. For Muriel, a sense of taste goes hand in hand with a sense of wonder, an eye for beauty, and an open mind. What makes her work stand out, as a decorator as well as fabric, apparel, and furniture designer, is her distinctive brand of eclectic exuberance which stems from a genuine passion for life. Keen on colour, with an active imagination and a talent for mixing styles and periods, her work is assertive, playful and multi-layered, and yet earnestly reflective of her clients’ lifestyle. How would you define yourself in three words?
Spontaneous, colourful, and energetic.

Madeleine Castaing and Renzo Mongiardino.
Which colours are you currently enamoured of?
Tobacco.

A console by Axel Einar Hjorth.
What’s an accessory you had for ages?
My diamonds.
What item in your closet do you wear the most?
My jelabas.
The beauty product you can’t live without?
My Caudalie Premier Cru cream.
Favourite destination and hotel?
The Dechiu Hotel in Hoi An, Vietnam
What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve done in your life?
Hiking, alone with a guide, through the terraced rice fields and villages of Sapa in Vietnam.
