And this year we chose to celebrate the iconic designs of the HERA blouse and top with the drop of the HERA Project - our proactive stance against the escalating issue of fabric waste in the fashion sector. But why HERA, and why now? Let's start from the beginning.
At the heart of our collections lies Spathoto silk, a distinctive fabric produced exclusively for the brand by Konstantinos Mouhtaridis's silk factory in the quaint northern town of Soufli. This silk, known for its sword-like thread texture, embodies our relentless pursuit of excellence and commitment to craftsmanship. Achieving such remarkable quality was no small feat. "The journey to perfection involved endless trials and fine-tuning," Mr. Mouhtaridis shares. Our partnership goes beyond sourcing; it's a mutual aspiration to sustain local craftsmanship, encompassing every stage of production and centred around traditional weaving techniques.
What makes Spathoto silk truly special is its tactile allure—it's not just about looks but also about its capacity to forge a sensory bond with the wearer, imparting a soothing caress against the skin. As a cornerstone of our collections, this fabric breathes life into garments that blend timeless appeal with a nod to luxury. In a world where the fashion industry discards a staggering 92 million tonnes of fabric waste annually, the need for alternative solutions has never felt more urgent. In response, we're upcycling unusable fabrics into must-have signature pieces. And what better canvas for this endeavor than our iconic HERA designs? The HERA Project transforms our high-quality, stocked spathoto silk fabric into coveted pieces, offering seven updated versions of the beloved blouse available in both long-sleeve and sleeveless styles, in four distinct colourways: blue, khaki, mandarine with red wine accents, and bronze.
